BAND
A band is a group playing a musical piece.
Jazz or a lock tend to point at popular music, but do not merely ask a wide sense a genre when I said "a band". But it is often that the orchestra is distinguished from a band.
There is an orchestra (がくだん) as an equivalent. But when I referred it to an orchestra, the orchestra (an orchestra) is included, and it is often that it points at an orchestra in particular and a brass band.
Most usually point at groups consisting of the musical instrument players, but there can be the thing that I extremely rarely use it for a vocal group. A usable word has a unit, a group without limiting it to a musical instrument player.
In addition, English "band" does not originally have the meaning of the music and uses it widely for the group of people.
バンド（音楽）
バンドとは、楽曲を演奏する集団のこと。
単に「バンド」と言った場合は、ジャズやロックなどポピュラー音楽を指すことが多いが、広義にはジャンルを問わない。ただし、オーケストラはバンドと区別されることが多い。
訳語として楽団（がくだん）がある。ただし楽団と呼称した場合はオーケストラ（管弦楽団）も含まれ、特に管弦楽団や吹奏楽団を指すことが多い。
通常、大半が楽器演奏者からなる集団を指すが、ごく希に、ボーカルグループに対し使うこともある。楽器演奏者に限定せず使える語に、ユニット、グループがある。
なお、英語の“band”には本来音楽の意味はなく、人々のグループに対し広く使う。
Rock

ロック (Rock) は、アメリカで1950年代に黒人音楽と白人音楽の融合により生まれたポピュラー音楽のジャンルである。ジャズ、リズム・アンド・ブルース（R&B）と共に世界中に広まったアメリカ発の音楽であり、世界中の音楽シーンに衝撃を与えただけでなく、その影響はポップカルチャー全体に及び、その社会的インパクトは極めて強かった。
いわゆるロックバンドスタイルで演奏される。ボーカル、ギター、ベース、ドラムを基本構成とする。また、この構成にプラスして、キーボード、ピアノなどの鍵盤楽器やトランペットやトロンボーン、サックスなどのホーンセクションが加えられる場合もある。更に、アーティストによってはヴァイオリン・コントラバスのようなもっぱらクラシック音楽で用いられる楽器を加えることもあり、その他にも、（主に1980年代以降のロックにおいて）シンセサイザーやコンピュータサウンドを併奏させることもある。
稀な例外を除き、8ビート、 2ビートか、或いは16ビートで演奏される音楽である。激しいビートサウンドが特徴であるが、今日でも様々な演奏様式を取り入れながら発展し続けており、この範疇に入らないロックも増えている。いずれにせよ多くは4分の4拍子の範疇であり、おおむね1曲あたり3分から5分の演奏時間となり、シングルCDやインターネットで商業的に1曲ごとに切り売りされる。
